“ORcchi splitting “the compliment that Raoul Bova had sent via Chat to Martina Ceretti, is no longer just a private message. Those two words have become a registered trademark, a web domain and now even a potential business. While the actor ran to arm them on the patent office, the Brescia artist Gabriele Picco He had already transformed them into creative opportunities, recording the internet domains and thinking of a line of glasses and lamps.

Spaccant eyes, from the compliment of Raoul Bova to the marketing move by Gabriele Picco

Peak, 51 years old, tells the Corriere della Sera how everything was born: «Everyone talked about it, and it seemed perfect to give identity to a creative project. I immediately recorded the domain, it was available, and someone even offered to buy it. Then nothing was done. “

When he tried to record the brand, however, he found the road occupied by Bova. Not all, though. “The deposit did not concern glasses, lamps and cell cover – he explains – and then I dealt with that part”.

The artist says that he would have liked to launch shirts with a logo created on purpose, but the recording in that sector had already been completed by the actor.

The story is perfectly part of the peak artistic path. Always linked to visual symbols such as eyes, looks and tears, the artist has already transformed the newspaper into pop icon. One of his best known creations is the Fiat 500 surmounted by a cloudwhich has become table lamp. And again, the sculpture of the “little man who cries Murano glass tears” – used as a cover of his novel published by Mondadori – best represents his poetic figure: a balance between play, melancholy and design.

There is no shortage of international awards: peak has exposed to Moma of New Yorkat Robert Lehman Collection and in numerous private collections. In Brescia, his city is remembered for the imposing installation “Frank the Fakir”a 16 -meter giant lying on a bed of ice cream cones.

Between fate and randomness

On the “Breast eyes” case, braking peak: “I am not looking for any contrast with anyone”clarifies. Yet fate seems to have fun: already in 2002, his first novel was titled Aureole in search of saints. A title that today, with Raoul Bova engaged on the set of Don Matteosounds like a small joke of fate.
