Despite the hot weather, the warm-up phase of the Southside Festival remains surprisingly cool: a relaxed atmosphere, calm traffic and just heated anticipation characterize the arrival Thursday on the Southside.
Warm-up before the start of the festival
The music festival in Neuhausen ob Eck officially starts on Friday, June 20th, but on Thursday there is already a “warm-up party” for everyone who arrives earlier. In previous years, this arrival day sometimes fell on Corpus Christi and was therefore a public holiday in Baden-Württemberg. Many people took advantage of this to take Friday off as a bridge day and secure their campsites on the festival site early.
Strictly speaking, there is no need for a warm-up this year. On the contrary: it will probably be too hot. There is a heat warning for the south of Baden-Württemberg with temperatures over 30 degrees. However, since the plateau in the municipality of Neuhausen ob Eck is relatively high, festival visitors fare comparatively well compared to other areas in Swabia.
“It’s never been so relaxed”
The warmth hardly disturbs those arriving – and the traffic situation is also surprisingly relaxed. There was only some traffic jam in the morning hours, but it cleared up shortly after eleven o’clock. The police reported to the “Schwäbische Zeitung”: “There was surprisingly little going on.” The shuttle bus between the festival site and Tuttlingen train station is also not overcrowded. “It has never been so relaxed,” said the officials.
Line-up and tickets
It is to be expected that a large number of visitors will follow suit. The line-up for the first day includes Billy Talent, Halsey, Provinz, BHZ and many more – something that very few people want to miss. Kraftklub, Yungblud, Twenty One Pilots and Florence + The Machine will follow in the following days. Departure day is Monday, June 22nd.
The festival is not sold out yet: those who decide at short notice can still buy an all-days pass for 279 euros. Day tickets are available from 139 euros.
