Southern Europe fears new forest fires due to extreme heat: highest alarm phase in Portugal, possibly 44 degrees

As of Sunday, Portugal is in an increased state of readiness because of the expected heat and the danger of forest fires. The country announces the highest alarm phase until 8 August. In the coming days, the government fears temperatures that can amount to between 36 and 44 degrees. New heat waves are also expected in Turkey and Greece.
