That’s how the neighbors remember Pate Mustajärvi.
On the evening of Boxing Day, in front of Mustajärvi’s home, a growing crowd of candles shines on Kyntäjäntie in Ikur.
Grieving neighbors and acquaintances bid farewell to the legendary rocker.
– This is Pate’s childhood home, where he still lives now. Pate fell in this house and hurt himself, the next door neighbors Helena and Erkki they say.
– He was a polite and cheerful neighbor, we knew him since boyhood.

The couple puts down a candle. Erkki says that he talked to Pate months ago.
– I saw Pate in September and we talked. He had a prätkä just like me, says Erkki.
Also Laura, A fan and Linnea wanted to bring a candle to Pate’s home gate.
– Pate loved dogs, talked to them and paid attention to them. I named my dog Pate, Laura says.

The jogging singer was a popular figure in the neighborhood and on the area’s gravel roads, neighbors say. One neighbor thinks that the fall and eating took away Pate’s energy.
– His smile was no longer so delicate, but he always said hello, the neighbor says.
Pate confessed to being a fan of the local sports club Ikurin Viree.
– The man always had something nice to say, his career never came to mind. An eternal resident of Ikur, the neighbors say.
