Soon more female street names in Beernem?

As in most other municipalities and cities, the street names in Beernem are predominantly male. With the Alice Nahonstraat and the Mother Teresastraat there has already been a timid attempt to break through this imbalance, but that is not enough, according to Lambrecht. “It is high time to put gender equality into practice in the public domain,” it sounds.

Lambrecht introduces some Beernem women who deserve their own street name. She thinks of Elvire Brinckman, union woman of the former Tricot factory, or Sister Philiberta, the inspirer of the former mother house. “There is no shortage of choice”, says Lambrecht.
