After a successful debut, RTV Drenthe is organizing a second edition of the Songfestival Drenthe – Pop in ‘t Plat next year. What is new is that artists can register.
Last weekend, the winners of the last edition, De Broers Roo, were on the stage of the Regional Song Contest in Arnhem, in which all provinces participated. The Drenthe duo achieved seventh place there.
RTV Drenthe editor-in-chief Martin van der Veen is satisfied with the first edition of the Songfestival Drenthe – Pop in ‘t Plat. “We are happy with the high quality. Especially with the new Drenthe-language music that has been released. At RTV Drenthe we think it is important that new music in our regional language continues to be released. That is why we are also organizing the Songfestival Drenthe – Pop in ‘t Plat next year.”
The first edition was the successor to the Drèents Liedtiesfestival and was set up together with regional language organization Huus van de Taol and the province of Drenthe. These parties will join in again next year.
Submissions are welcome, but there are a number of conditions. First of all, the song must be written and sung in Drenthe. In addition, the song must not have been previously released and it must be an original composition, not a cover. And of course it must be suitable for a live performance.
