The son (16) of Meggy Jansen from Geffen was severely abused on Saturday night in his eyes of his girlfriend. This less than a hundred meters away from his house. The two were by bike on the way home of a party, when suddenly two men with balaclavas came out of the bushes and brutally started to ram the boy. His girlfriend was watching screaming. “She sometimes wakes up screaming,” says Meggy on Wednesday.
The son of Meggy, who does not want to be mentioned with his name for fear, suffered a concussion by the abuse and his back muscles were stretched. According to his mother, the two men mainly kicked his head and back. They wore balaclavas, dark clothing and dark gloves.
Meggy’s son cycled back home with his girlfriend (16) that night, when things went wrong about a hundred meters from his house on the Kraaijven. “We live in the outlying area where few cars drive in the evening,” says Meggy.
“My son saw a car driving and warned his girlfriend that she should go aside. He recognized the car: a friend of our youngest son was picked up by his mother. They were only a few seconds away when two men jumped out of the bushes.”
“As long as they don’t stab me”
According to her, the men attacked her son in a brutal way. “He told me later that he could already see our house. By making himself small, he tried to protect his head. The only thing he thought was: as long as they didn’t stab me. His girlfriend saw everything happen and shouted when the men kept raging.”
But no one could hear her according to Meggy. “At some point the men stopped,” she continues. “One of them said,” Grab that bike. “But they didn’t do that, because they immediately fled.”
Her son immediately called his parents and fled home with his girlfriend. “We ran outside quickly and tried to calm them. We called the police and made a report. My husband and I also started riding laps, but unfortunately we didn’t find the men.”
It continues to guess for them what the men were on. “My son later said he was trying to get up, when he heard something about the bike. He had taken my electric bicycle and did not want it to be stolen. They did not do that in the end, as they also stole them no money, telephone or wallet. You constantly ask yourself: who does something like that?”
Unlike him, the girlfriend of her son did not suffer any physical injuries. “And my son’s pain will hopefully pass,” says Meggy. But the ‘mental damage for both’ is the worst: “They are drawn for life.”
“Football training canceled for fear of dark.”
“They are both incredibly scared and on their care. When it starts to get dark, my son starts to get up the tension. Then he wants to be safe inside and looks outside all the time. He skipped his football training this week because he doesn’t dare to go outside in the dark.”
In addition, Meggy and her son pass the place where it happened every day. “There he would prefer to see the bushes away. To come to a rest, he slept with his girlfriend on Tuesday night. She has woken up a number of times through all the images that come back.”
Both Meggy and her family and the family of her son’s girlfriend have not yet recovered from the shock days after the abuse: “We don’t close an eye. It is your worst nightmare that they are sitting on your child. You really break it.”
The men are captured on camera images of the neighbors, just like the dark station wagon with which they drive away a little later. Meggy hopes that villagers who have more camera images or who have seen something have reported. The police announced that they would investigate the abuse and take the camera images into account in the investigation. A spokesperson indicates that no comparable incidents have taken place in the outskirts of Geffen in the past.
