Even though the sun has now set, the family of missing Joop van der Donk (60) from Eindhoven continues to search for him on Sunday. Joop left home on Wednesday and has not been seen since. “We are terribly worried,” says son Bram.
On Sunday, a great search was made for Joop in the Tongelre district and near the Karpendonkse Plas. The family received help from Signi’s sniffer dogs from De Rips, a drone team and the police.
“Every now and then the dogs seemed to find a trail, but nothing concrete so far,” Bram sighs. “We drove to the campsite in Eersel where we have had a pitch for 28 years, but he was not there either.”
Fortunately, Bram is not alone. “We are searching with more than forty people. All family members and friends. That really keeps us afloat.”
Stay combative
“It’s dark now, but that doesn’t matter,” says Bram. “I can’t sit still now. We are terribly worried. We fear the worst, but you have to remain combative. As long as there is no news, I will remain hopeful.”
Joop is depressed and needs medication. “He’s never been missing. Yes, once for a few hours. But never this. I just hope he’s hiding somewhere, but that chance seems smaller and smaller.”
Father Joop is a 60-year-old man with short gray hair. He has blue eyes and is 1 meter 87 tall. He has no identification or telephone with him. Bram hopes that people who know more about Joop or his situation will report to the police.
