A sincere but too predictable film, the review

Based on the best-seller of the same name by Karen Kingsbury, Someone Like You – The echo of the heart is a romantic drama that deals with themes of love, loss and faith with a highly emotional tone. The story develops in a linear way and focuses above all on sentimental impactprivileging the message over narrative complexity. The result is a sincere but often predictable filmwith a very obvious screenplay that struggles to surprise.

Even the characters are at times lacking in depth and some dynamics appear too “constructed” while Tyler Russell’s direction maintains a coherent but unoriginal style, without particular visual flashes. The religious element is central, representing the heart of the film, and it is precisely this further aspect that makes it an excessively rhetorical film. Finally, the interpretations, while sincere, do not always manage to elevate the source material. Overall therefore, Someone Like You it’s honest but conventionalcapable of involving those looking for a traditional romantic story but nothing more.
