Niels van der Laan and Jeroen Woe, the duo of Even Tot Hier, have an Arjen Lubach watcher in their team who protects the duo from possible duplication. “Yes, he is on Lubach duty.”

When Arjen Lubach still worked for the NPO, he was never on air during the same broadcast weeks as the Even Tot Hier duo. Arjen was disappointed about that, because he preferred to decide for himself when he was on TV. “When he was still at the NPO, the agreement was that we would alternate. That came from us,” Jeroen Woe admits in de Volkskrant.

Lubach service

Why is that exactly? Jeroen: “Our writers are there until Thursday afternoon, it would suck if he came up with something on Thursday evening that we had already come up with a whole item about. Now that he is at RTL, he is often in parallel with us. So someone from our team is always on Lubach duty.”

Niels adds: “Duplicating is a detriment to our honor. It is simply irritating if someone has been grazing in your pasture. But it is actually rare that he steals a subject from us.”

Competitor

When asked how fierce the competition with Arjen is, Jeroen answers: “There is friendly competition. We were also his guests to announce our new season.”

Niels: “But he is seen as a competitor.”

Even Tot Hier and Lubach are currently on a Christmas break. Also nice, says Jeroen. “But once we start it will be fun again.”
