About the Swedish trotting coach from Maria Törnqvist a shocking video has surfaced, Aftonbladet newspaper news.
The secretly filmed video is grainy, but it shows two horses and their handlers. Suddenly, several blows are heard from somewhere.
The person who filmed the video says that the handlers hit one of the horses with a bit when it stopped on the dirt road and refused to move.
– It went on for several minutes, says the cameraman.
– You can’t beat a horse like that, he scolds.
The Swedish Trotting Federation has started an investigation into Törnqvist. He is the owner of the restaurant.
According to Törnqvist’s story, a dog was running on the dirt road, which startled one of the horses so that it fell half into the ditch.
– We just tried to get the horse out of the ditch and hit it with a whip to avoid an accident. I completely understand why the voices in the video sound bad, commented the coach.
However, according to the undercover photographer, there were no dogs there.
Törnqvist is one of Sweden’s most prominent trotting coaches. His stable has won almost 1.3 million euros in prize money this year.
