Lee apologizes

There was a serious argument within the South Korean national team, coached by Jürgen Klinsmann, on the evening before their semi-final exit at the Asian Cup. Team captain Heung-Min Son (Tottenham Hotspur) dislocated a finger.
Son (31) and other older players were annoyed that younger players left dinner early to play table tennis, the South Korean news agency Yonhap reported on Wednesday, citing a representative of the national football association KFA. After an initial exchange of words, an argument developed and Son was injured.

The British tabloid “The Sun” first reported the incident last week. South Korea surprisingly lost the semifinals of the tournament in Qatar against outsiders Jordan 0-2. Son competed with a bandage on his index and middle fingers on his right hand.

Kang-in Lee from Paris Saint-Germain, who was probably involved in the dispute, admitted the incident on social media and apologized. He caused great disappointment among the fans who have always supported the South Korean national team.
After the defeat against the Jordanians, former national coach Klinsmann came under heavy criticism in South Korea. As Yonhap reported, KFA wants to discuss the Swabian-born’s future as head coach at another meeting on Thursday. Klinsmann, who is in his adopted home of the USA, will be connected via video.
