The opera, Carmen, is a world-famous piece by the French composer Georges Bizet. Choreographer Wim Vandekeybus created his own interpretation of the work. “It will be a very physical performance in which the dancers really take the lead. We have also added new elements that are not literally in the story, but that strengthen Carmen’s aura,” says Vandekeybus.
Carmen tells the story of the liberated Roma woman and her turbulent relationship with a soldier. When Carmen finally chooses to become a bullfighter, the story ends tragically.
