Solar panels at schools in Roeselare also: “A good example for energy saving”

The general objective is to generate at least 50 GWh of solar energy per year across the entire Roeselare territory by 2025. This corresponds to an average annual energy consumption of 14,286 families and is good for a reduction of 11,000 tons of CO2 emissions.

60% less electricity consumption

The sun is also shining on the school buildings of SBS De Brug, SBS De Octopus and SBS De Vlieger. “Good for an area of 1180 m² where we will collect the sun’s rays from now on. The panels we install will be able to generate 246 600 KWh of solar energy.”

In this way, the City can save as much as 60 percent on current electricity consumption.

The installations will be completed and operational by the end of September.
