The image of a military sitting on a bench in Schijndel has disappeared again, it appears on Tuesday afternoon. It is the second time that the statue is gone. And at the end of June a part of the gun was also sawn off. Now there is no statue on the bench anymore.

The statues of the soldiers of the 101st Airborne Division, in equipment from 1944, were placed on 2 May in Schijndel, Sint-Oedenrode and Veghel, in honor of 80 years of freedom. But the statue in Schijndel has since disappeared for the second time.

Stolen
On the Remembrance Day, May 4, the soldier was stolen in Schijndel. The statue was found that same day on a windowsill on Tulpstraat, a little further away. The residents where the statue leaned on the windowsill would have found the statue in the park and took it home.

As a precaution, the soldier’s image in Sint-Oedenrode was then removed. A few weeks later the soldiers returned to their benches. It just didn’t take long before the weather was hit.

Destroyed
On June 26, the rifle of the Schijndel soldier turned out to be partly sawn off. A few days later the statue in Veghel underwent the same fate: only half a run remained there. The municipality reported the first destruction, but there were no many starting points. The image itself had nothing to report.

Soldier away again
On Tuesday afternoon the statue in Schijndel appears to have disappeared again. The municipality of Meierijstad informs Omroep Brabant that the soldier has been found again. “The soldier is justified again and the municipality of Meierijstad will consult what needs to be done now.”

It is not known where the soldier from Schijndel is currently. Maybe again by someone from Schijndel or visiting one of the others soldiers.
