Madonna: So there was a disaster appearance at the ESC

After the devastating mini-gig from Madonna at the ESC 2019, many spectators remained at a loss. How could it be that the Queen of Pop embarrassed so much? While “Like a Prayer” tapped the show staircase uncertainly, she remained the air several times while singing. Hardly any sound wanted to sit.
Hours after the uncomfortable appearance there were first details on how to get there. As “BILD” reports, Madonna was anything but on the samples than on the height. This was also why those responsible for the event were surprised that Madonna wanted to sing live at the ESC. The sheet does not say who was actually involved in rehearsals. Supposedly, however, those observers thought that she only wanted to spare her voice for the performance.
It is now clear that the unvoiced moment was not a technical problem. This was confirmed by the European Radio Union (EBU) on Sunday (May 19) in a statement. Apparently Madonna played at risk at “Like a Prayer” (after all, the autotune effect in “Future” ensured that hardly anyone could doubt the singer’s voice).

Music producer Brix, who once produced Lena Meyer-Landruts with “Satellite”, is quoted by “Bild” with toxic words: “Madonna has never been the big singer. This is well known. This is not what she is not about. Against this background I would have advised her not to sing live. misunderstood.
Of course there were also plenty of conspiracy theories on the net. Some suspected that Madonna might want to attract attention for her new record with her unvoiced appearance, which continues days after the event. Others believed that the organizers of the ESC intentionally wanted to achieve a disgrace to the singer – probably also because she wanted to set a political sign during her show. So it could also be explained why a contract between the musician and the organizers did not come about for a long time.
Madonna may also have had problems, while “Like a Prayer” with her heavy cowls to run down the stairs. That would explain their breathing interruptions and the uncertain voice. Was Madonna falling during the rehearsals and wanted to prevent this during the performance?
