For the U21, Nick Woltemade recently convinced with a triple pack. At VfB Stuttgart, too, it runs how the cup semi-final showed. The future for the offensive star looks rosy.
He has a run – and not only at the club level, but also in the national team’s jersey. More precisely in the dress of the U21. Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade scored three times against Spain last week and gave the team of Antonio di Salvo a 3-1 success. The 23-year-old also runs for the Swabians. In the cup semi-final against RB Leipzig, Woltemade contributed a goal to the 3-1 win and is now in the final against Arminia Bielefeld.
Woltemade switched from Werder Bremen to VfB last summer. The offensive player is one of the team of coach Sebastian Hoeneß and has already completed 26 games since his arrival. Born in Bremen, the native of Bremen met 13 times and also delivered three templates.
No wonder that FC Bayern should also be interested in Woltemade. As the “Bild” newspaper recently reported, there was even a first contact between the Munich and the player environment (read more about the interest here). What fits? That the offensive star looked a lot with the current striker of the German record champion Harry Kane. Nick Woltemade said: “I think you can see a lot as a striker.”
U21 national coach DI Salvo raved about the 1.98 meter tall professional: “I think this is also very rare that a two-meter man has such a fine foot, so strongly.” He praised the development of the Stuttgart: “In the meantime, he also uses his body properly, really well – and then things come out that you don’t expect from such a long lacquer.”
And in December of last year, Sebastian Hoeneß also said about Woltemade, who only came to Joker inserts and then established himself: “Nick is a player who also likes to fall back. Now he is increasingly showing the qualities of a middle striker. That was a topic from the start.”
But not only that: Hoeneß also impresses the broadcast of the nine-time Bundesliga Saison shooter. “He is a tidy, cool guy who arrives with a natural authority in the team and is good,” said the VfB coach. According to the “Bild” newspaper, Grandpa and father of Woltemade are VfB fans. The von Woltemade family therefore also lives in Stuttgart, so the offensive star spent a lot of time in Swabia in his childhood, for example during the holidays.
It is possible that national coach Julian Nagelsmann appoints him to the national team’s A squad due to his current achievements for the final Four in the Nations League. The competition with the upcoming U21 European Championship would not overlap.
Woltemade said at Sat.1: “I would very much like to play the U21 European Championship.” However, he also emphasized that he had “enough power” for both tournaments. But before that is the cup final in May. Woltemade said on Wednesday evening after the victory against Leipzig: “I think Berlin is getting crazy. It is going crazy and the fans will tear down there. I will never forget something like that in my life.”
