The upcoming “Harry Potter” series was announced as a faithful adaptation of JK Rowling’s book series. Now there is new information: The list of cast members is getting longer and some rumors have now been officially confirmed. Here are an overview of all the roles known so far.
Among other things, the occupation of three professors is determined
The Hogwarts school director Albus Dumbledore, who was already portrayed by two actors in the films, is now to be played by John Lithgow. The 79-year-old can already be seen in series such as “The Crown” and “Dexter”. Janet McTeer takes on the role of the magic professor Minerva McGonagall and Paapa Essiedu Plays her colleague Severus Snape. The latter already caused discussions. According to Internet trolling, Essiedu as a black Brit would not correspond to the description of Snapes in the books and was only chosen in the cast for a “diversity quota”.
Numerous fans were already rumbling for the occupation of Rubus Hagrid – and the rumors have now confirmed: Nick Frost took on the role of the semiconal and guardian of the keys and lands from Hogwarts. “Harry Potter” is also not the only fantasy adaptation that is due for frost. In “How to Train Your Dragon” he is supposed to play one of the Vikings.
Who takes over the supporting roles?
In addition, Luke Thallon is said to slip into the part of the Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse is announced as Argus Filch. While Thallon has previously worked as a stage actor, Whitehouse is known for his comedic work in series such as “The Fast Show” and “Harry & Paul”.
According to the press, Francesca Gardiner, author and show runner of the series, said, according to the line -up: “We are enthusiastic about having won so extraordinary talents and can hardly wait to see how they bring these beloved characters into new life.”
Although the cast is now slowly taking shape, the occupations of numerous important roles, such as Harry Potter himself or his friends Ron Weasley and Hermine Granger, are still not known for the public.
