Oasis celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.
The fourth studio album from Oasis, standing on the Shoulder of Giants, was published on February 28, 2000 – now, 25 years later, the band celebrates the anniversary with a re -published record.
A celebrated experiment-the fourth Oasis plate
The album marked a milestone at the time, because it was the first album that Liam and Noel Gallagher under their own label Big Brother Recording Ltd. published. The company was founded in January 2000 and was the result of the sudden closure of the British label Creation Records, in which Oasis was in front of it.
And from the sound, the album was also considered a pioneering work in the repertoire of Oasis. At that time, Noel Gallagher hit a new direction and relied on a rather experimental approach. The style of the recordings on the plate is strongly shaped by modern, psychedelic rock.
Despite the new concept, Standing on the Shoulder of Giants celebrated great success. In Great Britain, the album shot in place on the album charts and sold around 310,000 times in the first week alone. In the meantime, the plate has even been awarded a double platinum. In Germany, too, Oasis climbed the charts with the disc in 2000 and even finished fifth at peak times.
