Director of the International Ski Federation Johan Eliasch said that there are problems with the artificial snow production system in Italy.

– The Italian government and the regions that organize the games still have a lot to do, and they have to step up the pace of preparations, Eliasch said.

Problems have arisen especially in Livigno, where snowboarding and freestyle skiing competitions should be organized. According to Eliasch, the situation is being closely monitored.

– We call three times a day: in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening. There are problems with the production of snow. There have been delays. Unfortunately, the Italian government has not released funds, so the organizers are fighting to survive.

The Italian government has not commented on the matter.

At the beginning of December, the Secretary General of the International Ski Federation Michel Vion stated that artificial snow is a prerequisite for good Olympic conditions.

The Milan–Cortina Olympics will take place from February 6 to February 22, 2026.
