Snooker World Cup also in 2022 without Germans

No German players will start at the Snooker World Championships in Sheffield in 2022 either. This is already certain before the last qualifying round.

The two German qualifiers Lukas Kleckers and Simon Lichtenberg each made it into the third round, but then they would have had to win two more games.

The 25-year-old Kleckers lost 5:6 against Matthew Selt from England. Lichtenberg (24) had to admit defeat to the Iranian Hossein Vafaei with 0:6.

In the history of the World Cup, no German player has managed to qualify. Traditionally played at Sheffield’s Crucible Theater, the World Cup begins this year on April 16th and ends on May 2nd.

The current champion is Mark Selby from England, who traditionally opens on Saturday.
