On Monday evening (June 23), Slipknot played in the Waldbühne in Berlin. After a few storm warnings, the journey for fans started a bit bumpy. There was a total failure of several S-Bahn lines-of all people who lead to the forest stage. Fans had to go through with alternative lines, but not everyone did it in good time.

Soft Play and Polaris heat the amount

The British Punk duo Soft Play (formerly Slaves) started. Unimpressed by the semi -filled audience round, they delivered an intensive performance: the drummer screamed and sang at the same time while he also hammered on his set, the guitarist ran over the stage. During its appearance, the Venue gradually filled up. Among them a lot of people with slipknot shirts, cowls and rivet belt.

Polaris, second support band of the evening, then met a significantly more response. The singer calls “Jump, Jump, Jump!”, Obey the crowd. “Our only task today is to warm up for SLIPKNOT”, the singers poured into the microphone. That was successful.

The performance begins

Then the music stops, the audience whistles and claps. “Come and Play with Us”, repeatedly sounds an emotionless child’s voice. In addition, metallic screeches, noise, goosebumps. Then the US band enters the stage, as usual in overalls and creepy headgear.

“Do you want to hear a song that we have never played a Germany?” Asks Corey Taylor. The audience’s loud answer is clear. This is followed by the track “Gematria (The Killing Name)” – an angry song about religious and nationalist fanaticism. Although the track comes from 2008, it is terrifyingly up to date.

What follows is an explosive show, as perhaps only slipknot delivers: horror masks, a bubbling moshpit in front of the stage, thundering sound thunderstorm. It is also rocked and celebrated in the upper ranks.
