English week for the Alpine: A floodlight spectacle is coming up in Flachau on Tuesday (January 14th, 2025). DSV ski ace Lena Dürr is desperate for compensation.
Lena Dürr was deeply frustrated. At the last slalom in Kranjska Gora, the 33-year-old was eliminated after a few goals and had to bury all hopes of another top result. It was the first “spot of dirt” after an almost flawless season so far.
Dürr was annoyed “brutally”. A good ten days after this mishap, in which she luckily remained uninjured, the German ski ace will be particularly motivated at the start of the floodlit spectacle on Tuesday (January 14, 2025/5:45 p.m. in the sports show ticker) on the Hermann Maier World Cup course in Flachau stand.
Dürr on the podium in Flachau in 2023
As always, Dürr is one of the favorites. If she manages two good runs, she is a candidate for the podium. She has already achieved two podium places this year – but it wasn’t enough to be at the top of the podium. In Semmering shortly before the turn of the year, Dürr came in second place. In Levi she finished third in mid-November. She also achieved two more top 5 places.
Your performances so far at the floodlight show in Pongau have been mixed. After rather disappointing performances, a bang followed in 2023 with third place. Last winter, Mikaela Shiffrin’s emotional victory was only enough for 15th place. Dürr and Flachau are also a bit of a surprise bag.
Aicher, Hilzinger and Remme are also there
If Dürr wins, she will be the first German skier since Maria Höfl-Riesch in January 2011 to win a World Cup slalom in Austria.
In addition to Dürr, DSV nominated Emma Aicher (SC Mahlstetten, Jessica Hilzinger (SC Oberstdorf) and Roni Remme (SC Bergen).
