In the USA the Austrian achieved his first cup victory at the age of 34. Splendid comeback by the Italian in the second heat
With a super second heat Alex Vinatzer sensationally climbs up the rankings and closes the Copper Mountain super-G at the foot of the podium. In the USA the Italian was only 20th after the first test but in the evening session he made an incredible comeback and finished 5th, just missing third place by just 16 thousandths at 2’32″14. The Austrian Stefan Brennsteiner, a 34-year-old with his first career success, also won the World Cup test. The Norwegian Kristoffersen and the Croatian Zubcic were also on the podium. The other Italians in the race did poorly: De Aliprandini closed out 26th, Borsotti 29th.
