Aleksander Aamodt Kilde is one of the most successful ski racers in the world – but he has been out for a year. Now he is talking about returning.
It was almost exactly a year ago that Aleksander Aamodt Kilde fell badly on the descent in Wengen. Winter sports fans remember the ski racer’s horror accident with horror. The Norwegian and fiancé of US record holder Mikaela Shiffrin seriously injured his lower leg and shoulder when he flew unrestrained into the safety net on the route. Since then, Kilde has not competed in a race.
Now he is giving his fans hope that he could return soon. “The plan is definitely to race again next year. That’s what I’m fighting for,” said Aleksander Aamodt Kilde on ServusTV. He had just survived another operation and now all he had to do was move forward.
“The sixth operation on the shoulder is the last. That’s how it’s planned. The calf and the leg look okay and normal skiing is going quite well,” said Kilde in the “Sport and Talk Special”. The 32-year-old has won, among other things, 21 individual World Cup victories and Olympic silver in Beijing in 2022.
