Bonus not paid out: Big trouble for ski jumpers

Ski jumper Kacper Tomasiak won three medals at the Olympics. He is still waiting for his reward.
After the Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, trouble has arisen in the Polish ski jumping team. The reason: open premium payments. As Polish media consistently report, around 235,000 euros for the medal wins have still not been paid out. A payment deadline for this expired on April 30th.
In particular, those around three-time medalist Kacper Tomasiak reacted with increasing impatience. His mother, Kinga Tomasiak, said: “I would like to remind you that the regulations governing bonus payments to Olympians clearly state that the National Olympic Committee (NOC) is responsible for the payments.”
The background to the delays is apparently financial problems in the Polish NOK environment. An important sponsor, the crypto exchange platform Zondacrypto, is under pressure, and the telecommunications company Polkomtel unexpectedly ended the cooperation.
NOK boss Radosław Piesiewicz boasted about the Polish team’s successes at the Winter Games, “but when it came to keeping his promise, problems arose,” said Kinga Tomasiak. “We have already spoken to lawyers and intend to take action on this matter on Monday when we return from vacation. We will not let this go.”
In addition to Kacper Tomasiak, who won silver on the normal hill and bronze on the large hill, teammate Paweł Wąsek is apparently also affected. According to information from the Polish sports news portal “WP SportoweFakty”, the 26-year-old is initially planning a conversation with the NOK. Wąsek and Tomasiak won the silver medal in the super team competition.
