The German ski jumpers are stalking closer to the winner’s podium, but they didn’t get their first podium place this winter on Sunday (November 30, 2025) in Falun, Sweden.

On the large hill, Agnes Reisch in fifth place and Katharina Schmid in eighth place were close. Selina Freitag (10th place) also had reason to be happy. The German ski jumpers are heading in the right direction, but the world’s best is still a long way away.

Prevc stop high-flyer Maruyama

On Sunday, series winner Nozomi Maruyama (Japan) and Nika Prevc (Slovenia) fought a breathtaking duel. For the first time this winter, Maruyama lost out. Prevc celebrated their debut victory and showed strong nerves.

After the first round she was only a tiny 1.2 points ahead of the three-time season winner Maruyama, who achieved a strong 129 meters in the final, but Prevc immediately countered and was the only jumper to fly over the 130 meter mark, making the victory perfect. The Norwegian Eirin Maria Kvandal came in third place.

Things are looking up for the Germans

There was also celebration in the German team. Especially with Reisch. The 26-year-old completed two successful jumps (124 m and 119 m) and celebrated her best result of the season in fifth place. Schmid fell from seventh to eighth place, but is consistently in the top ten.

Freitag did well with distances of 119.5 and 121.5 meters and was much improved compared to Friday (17th place). Juliane Seyfarth was also on course for the top ten at halftime in twelfth place, but in the final the experienced Thuringian struggled with the slow pace. At only 114.5 meters it fell significantly behind.

Only Anna Hollandt has to give up

Of the German team, only Anna Hollandt had a short working day. 106 meters was not enough for the second round. It’s a difficult start to the season for the 28-year-old, who announced her retirement early last season due to mental problems. In the first World Cup she was a victim of the stricter suit controls, Hollandt was disqualified.
