Aleksander Zniszczol (POL) vs. Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal (NOR)

On paper, Aleksander Zniszczol is the weaker jumper in this duel, but in the rehearsal he showed a really strong jump. So it’s important to have it on the bill. Now that it matters, it doesn’t go beyond 130 meters. Is the 124.5 meters enough for his duel opponent Sundal? Relaxed. The Norwegian has major problems in the take-off phase and falls after just 116.5 meters.

Artti Aigro (EST) vs. Marius Lindvik (NOR)

Artti Aigro and Marius Lindvik know each other well, as Aigro has been traveling with the Norwegian team since this year. The 24-year-old Estonian can’t really get going and lands after just 114.5 meters. A width that also grabs Lindvik, even if he still had room for improvement technically. 126 meters doesn’t even get him past Insam.

Alex Insam (ITA) vs. Roman Koudelka (CZE)

Alex Insam and Roman Koudelka start today’s competition. In the rehearsal, Insam was the clear winner of the duel, who has the upper hand now? From Gate 13, the Italian makes a good jump with a jump of 127.5 meters. Can Koudelka follow suit? No. At 122.5 meters, Koudelka has to hope that it can reach over the lucky losers.

    The voltage increases

The tension slowly increases and the first athletes get ready for the knockout duels. The conditions are uncomfortable with fog and snowfall, but the wind conditions were fair during the rehearsal, so nothing stands in the way of a fair competition.

    Tour favorites close together

The test run was led by the ÖSV jumpers. Stefan Kraft brought the best jump into the valley. He was followed by Manuel Fettner and Jan Hörl. Andreas Wellinger took fourth place, just 0.3 points ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi.

    Is there a conciliatory conclusion?

After Gregor Deschwanden’s successes at the start of the season, the Swiss team certainly hoped for more for the Four Hills Tournament, but in the end no Swiss could jump in. Accordingly, the last station is actually only about daily results. Nothing has changed in the team. There are Remo Imhof, Simon Ammann, Killian Peier and Deschwanden at the start.

    The German squad

After the German jumpers dominated the action at the top in the first competitions of the season together with Austria, only Andreas Wellinger was able to stand out with top results during the Four Hills Tournament. There were also no big jumps in the qualification for Bischofshofen. Pius Paschke, Karl Geiger, Stephan Leyhe and Philipp Raimund confidently made the cut for the competition, but did not put any pressure on the top.

    Ten Austrians at the start

The ÖSV also relied on the national group in Bischofshofen, from which all four athletes were also able to qualify for the competition. Accordingly, the host will have ten starters at the finale of the tour. Jan Hörl is best placed in the overall ranking, but it will be difficult for him to take home the Golden Eagle. Even for Stefan Kraft, the gap is already too big to make it on his own. Clemens Aigner can hope for a good individual result, as he delivered great jumps on Friday. The team is completed by Manuel Fettner, Michael Hayböck, Daniel Tschofenig, Daniel Huber, Marco Wörgötter, Simon Steinberger and David Haagen.

    Kobayashi with qualifying victory

However, Kobayashi did not allow himself to be weak in Bischofshofen. After the Japanese led the first training session, there was a break in the second training session before he delivered the best jump in the qualification. Andreas Wellinger was in ninth place, over 18 points behind Kobayashi.

    The big showdown

After strenuous days, the time has come and the grand finale of the 72nd Four Hills Tournament is taking place today in Bischofshofen! Ryoyu Kobayashi starts as the leader of the tour. The Japanese has collected 857.6 points in his previous competitions and now has the opportunity to win the legendary tour for the third time in his career. His big opponent is DSV Adler Andreas Wellinger, who has 4.8 points to catch up with Kobayashi. A gap that can be made up on the hill in Bischofshofen should Kobayashi allow himself a weakness.
