The Czech ski racer Tereza Nová fell heavily on the Kandahar last weekend. Now her friend gave an update.

The Kandahar descent in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is one of the most demanding slopes in the World Cup racing calendar. Last weekend the Czech Tereza Nová fell heavily in training and had to be removed with the helicopter. She suffered a very serious head injury, was operated on and moved into the artificial coma. Now her friend gave an update.

Ondřej Berndt told the Czech newspaper “Blesk”: “I am here with her and visit her every day. The situation is the same as on Saturday. Tereza is stable.” According to Swiss radio and television (SRF), she suffered a brain hemorrhage. Association spokesman Tomáš Haisl said about Nová: “She will remain in an artificial coma as long as the doctors consider it appropriate.” Your friend hopes that Nová will open her eyes until her 27th birthday on February 6th.

In addition to Tereza Nová, Austrian Nina Ortlieb also fell. After the accident, she stayed on the slopes after the accident before being taken to the hospital by helicopter. A day later she commented on Instagram about her injury: “When your nightmare becomes reality. I just broke my right leg again. I don’t find the right words at the moment, but I am very grateful for all the support and news.”

Her teammate Ariane Rädler also fell down the race on Sunday. The Bregenzer fell, but only suffered a hematoma in the lower back area and thus got it comparatively lightly.
