Skating association nominates Hazelhoff to ISU board

Skating association KNSB has nominated Albert Hazelhoff as a candidate for the board of the international skating union ISU. The election will take place at the next ISU congress in Phuket, Thailand in early June.

Jan Dijkema has been a member of the board of the umbrella federation since 1994. In 2016, he was elected president of the ISU. Dijkema will step down during the upcoming congress and the KNSB thinks it is important to get a Dutchman on the board again.

“We have been among the world’s best in long track speed skating for decades, and that is now also the case with short track speed skating,” Herman de Haan, director of the KNSB, said on the association’s website. “We have built up a lot of knowledge, which is reflected, for example, in the high quality of the international tournaments that we organize in the Netherlands. We like to use that know-how to further develop the sport of skating worldwide. to have a Dutchman.”
