The police invaded on Friday evening, August 1, on a vacant farm along the Westernieuwweg in Varsenare, a part of Jabbeke. The investigators discovered a large drug lab. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the suspects processed cocaine pasta into cocaine powder to squeeze it into blocks. More than 60 kilograms of cocaine would have been processed.
A total of seven men were arrested during the raid. Some suspects tried to flee in vain. Three other suspects were arrested after their vehicle was intercepted by the investigators. After interrogation, a Dutchman and nine Colombians were arrested. On Friday, four Colombians will have to appear again before the council chamber, the others will stay in jail for a month longer.
