At the time of the escape it is busy on the N201, the road that runs from Heemstede to Hoofddorp. Multiple passers -by film how the six broken horses find their way. First they run towards the Spaarne Gasthuis, but then they turn around and gallop in the direction of Heemstede.
Call for attention
The police are already trying to catch the animals, but that appears to be more difficult than expected. At the port of Heemstede, a scooter rider is successful and he knows how to grab one horse, says Sharona. “It was probably tired after that distance.”
The activity supervisor has since got into a police car to get the animals calm. At the heemstede library, about 5 kilometers away from the riding school, Sharona finally stops stopping the other five horses. She uses a simple trick for that.
“The police still can’t believe it,” she says laughing. “I just called them. She (the horses, ed.) Know very well who I am.” From the center of Heemstede she manages to bring the animals back to the riding school with the help of colleagues and the police.
