Six gas selling companies in Kazakhstan suspected of price collusion – RBK

An investigation is underway against six Kazakh companies selling liquefied gas, they are suspected of price collusion, a representative of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition of Kazakhstan said on the Khabar 24 TV channel. TASS

According to the publications, Kazmunaigas, Aktobemunaigaz, Kazgermunaigaz and Kazakhoil fell under suspicion. They do not name two more companies.

“In their actions, signs of price collusion and abuse of dominant market position have been identified,” said a representative of the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition (quoted by TASS).

He noted that the price increase, which will be verified during the investigation, took place during 2021. If initially the cost of a ton of gas was about 67 thousand tenge, then by the end of the year it exceeded 100 thousand, Khabar 24 reported. The preliminary results of the investigation will be formulated within 20 days, and they will be presented to President Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev.
