Six Bayreuthers lose after extra time

With the last contingent, medi Bayreuth fought bravely to the end in the Basketball Bundesliga and worked overtime, but it wasn’t enough for the reward.

Only six (!) players were available to coach Raoul Korner at BG Göttingen due to injuries and corona infections, the guests lost dramatically 91:92 (81:81, 43:49) after extra time.

Bayreuth, which lost on Wednesday with eight professionals to JobStairs Giessen 46ers at the bottom (89:95), started in Lower Saxony without a trained center and power forward. The Franconians stayed in touch, with the siren at the end of regular time, Sacar Anim equalized for Bayreuth to 81:81 and forced an additional five minutes. A second was still on the clock when Kamar Baldwin threw the Goettingen team to victory.

Meanwhile, the Telekom Baskets Bonn got their next success four days after the thrashing victory against Bayern Munich (96:61). At the Hamburg Towers, coach Tuomas Iisalo’s team won 85:73 (43:33) and secured second place in the table. Bonn has 34:16 points, Bayern 36:12.

In the third win in a row, Parker Jackson-Cartwright (22 points) was Telekom Baskets’ top scorer. For ninth-placed Hamburg (24:22), the defeat was a setback in the fight for a play-off spot.
