After the no in the Davis Cup, Sinner remodels his calendar: Turin, then preparation for Dubai. Before the Australian Open, the match in Seoul which should be played on the 10th, the ticket for the two athletes is not yet known
A simultaneous post on Instagram: “See you in Korea!”. A “Ciao Hyundaicard” in that of Jannik Sinner, “Hola” instead in that of Carlos Alcaraz. Clues that prove it: they will be the first two tennis players in the world to perform in Seoul in a Super Match, this is the name of the event that should be played at the Incheon Inspire Arena in the South Korean capital on January 10th. A kind of kick-off to the 2026 season in which Jannik Sinner, as he said in Vienna during the media day, wants to project himself as soon as possible. Also for this reason, therefore, the four-time Slam champion, who in Australia will defend the title won in the last two years, preferred not to play the Davis Cup which would have kept him busy until November 23rd (in the event of the final in Bologna). The operation is signed by Hyundai Card, which thus relaunches the old “Super Match”: an event that has had illustrious precedents such as Sharapova–Williams (2005), Federer–Nadal (2006), Federer–Sampras (2007), Djokovic–Roddick (2010). The choice to bring the top two in the world back to compete on Korean territory has a clear message: Seoul, like Riyadh (which tomorrow will announce the birth of the Arab Masters 1000 in two years), wants to stay in the global conversation of elite tennis. It is reported from Korea that official details on tickets and times will be communicated later, but there is already a hunt for a place for the super match. The Sinner-Alcaraz rivalry, at a time when tennis is languishing in protagonists, is as inflamed as the concerts of the greatest rock stars. A dimension that leaves the lines of the field and finds new, very rich stages. But if almost everything is known about Riyadh and its jackpots, there is still no news on the South Korean token.
WHAT SINNER DOES
—
Jannik Sinner’s season will therefore end after the ATP Finals in Turin, on November 14th. A bit of well-deserved rest after a season complicated by the forced three-month stoppage due to the Clostebol case, and then Dubai. It will be there that Jannik will do his winter preparation, just like last year. The structure should be the Jumeirah which hosted him last year and with him there will be the entire staff except, perhaps, Darren Cahill. The Australian coach, who should confirm his stay in the team in a few days, last year the rest of the team waited for him directly in Melbourne where Sinner, for the second consecutive year, chose not to play approach ATP tournaments, preferring to extend the off-season. This time the plans could change, given Seoul’s commitment, the Sinners reunion could be held directly in Korea, where Jannik could arrive from Dubai with a flight of around eight hours (more comfortable than the almost 12 that would separate him from Melbourne) and immediately leave for Australia while also having time to adapt to the climate and time, with the start of the first Slam of 2026 scheduled for Sunday 18th. Surgical joints that at this point they exclude the rumored possibility that Sinner could play in the ATP Cup, a competition for ATP nations which opens the Australian season from 2 to 11 January.
