Sinner, everyone is crazy about Jannik. Cairo enthusiastic

The president of RCS talks about his passion: “Great matches and Sonego was also very good”. “The victory over Djokovic in Malaga is more important than the one in Turin”

Everyone is crazy about Jannik. Nothing but Christmas shopping in the week of Black Friday: those who had planned a shopping Saturday changed their mind by rescheduling their day based on the Davis schedule. Sinner has even nailed the “highlights generation” to the sofa, i.e. the kids who today follow everything but usually on the smartphone screen and doing something else at the same time. Jannik is in this sense the heir of Alberto Tomba and Valentino Rossi, but these days his is perhaps an even greater feat. And today the same thing will happen: the whole of Italy will be in front of the TV cheering for him and his teammates. Also because if you don’t watch it, what do you talk about at the bar or in WhatsApp chats? How could you admit that you didn’t see Djokovic’s three consecutive matchpoints disallowed? Can you not fall into the temptation of booking the Carota boys costume for Carnival? In short, it’s Sinner-mania and no one is immune to it. Including Urbano Cairo, president of RCS and Turin, who yesterday made sure to miss only a few exchanges of the match between Italy and Serbia despite an important commitment: “I was at the States General of Tourism – says Cairo -, I started to follow the Musetti’s match on my phone while I was returning to Milan. Then at home I concentrated on Sinner’s match with Djokovic, which thrilled me. And I continued watching the doubles, in which Sonego was also very good. I believe that the victory against the number one in the world is more important for Sinner than the one in the round robin of the ATP Finals in Turin, because it counts for qualification to the Davis Cup final. Djokovic has won only one with his Serbia and we hope that Jannik can reach him by beating ‘Australia, although it won’t be easy. Even tomorrow (today, ed.) I will follow the matches on television and I will support Sinner and Italy.”

the EXAMPLE

Everyone likes Jannik. And one of the reasons, perhaps the most important, is his behavior. Jannik is a positive example, a boy who misses fewer words than backhands, who doesn’t blame his racket when he misses a comfortable volley, who in the toughest moment of the match has learned to allow himself a smile. In the spring, after the disappointments of Rome and Paris, Sinner was good at analyzing the situation, helped by the excellent staff. His first concern was to rediscover the fun in what he did: this is perhaps the best message for the kids, who by following him learn much more than just hitting the forehand very hard. Also because that, we are aware, would be impossible.
