Sinisterra succeeds Kuijt as the most expensive outgoing transfer from Feyenoord NOW

Luis Sinisterra is the successor of Dirk Kuijt as the most expensive outgoing transfer ever from Feyenoord. The 23-year-old Colombian international signed on Thursday for five years with Leeds United, which pays 25 million euros to the Rotterdam club.

The amount can even rise to 30 million euros due to bonuses, but it is already a huge improvement in the transfer record for Feyenoord. In 2006 Liverpool paid 18 million euros for Kuijt and that record remained in De Kuip for no less than sixteen years. Rick Karsdorp, who left for AS Roma in 2017 for 16 million euros, came closest in recent years.

Although Sinisterra is the most expensive outgoing Feyenoord transfer ever, he is not in the top ten most expensive outgoing Eredivisie players ever. Frenkie de Jong, who exchanged Ajax for FC Barcelona in 2019, is at the top of that list with 86 million euros.

The most expensive PSV transfer ever is in the name of Hirving Lozanp, who went to Napoli that same year for 45 million euros.

‘I am very grateful to everyone’

Feyenoord makes a big profit on Sinisterra, which came over four years ago for 2 million euros from Once Caldas from his native Colombia. “After my departure from Colombia for an adventure in Europe, I could not have wished for a better place in recent years than at Feyenoord,” says Sinisterra in a first reaction to his transfer on the website from Feyenoord.

After a difficult start and a serious cruciate ligament injury, Sinisterra became increasingly important for Feyenoord. Last season, with 23 goals and 14 assists in 43 matches, he played a large part in reaching the Conference League final. Feyenoord finished third in the Eredivisie.

“From the people with whom I have been on and around the field every day to the management of the club: I received the help and confidence from everyone. I needed that to come back stronger after my injury and to develop into a the footballer I am today. I am very grateful to everyone for that.”
