Singer Museum receives large anonymous donation: 33 paintings by Dutch modernists

The Singer Museum in Laren has received a donation of no less than 33 paintings by Dutch modernists from an anonymous Dutch couple. The paintings consist of pieces by well-known artists such as Piet Mondrian, Jan Sluijters and Kees van Dongen.

Museum director Jan Rudolph de Lorm is very happy with the donation: “It is great that we can make this beautiful museum even more beautiful. And above all, we can enrich and spoil our visitors with these art treasures.”

Sharing passion

The pieces were donated by an art-loving couple who wish to remain anonymous. “A very generous, art-loving couple, who want to share their passion with everyone who loves art,” says De Lorm.

Not so long ago, in 2018, the Singer Museum accepted a large donation from Els and Jaap Blokker. At the time, the museum had a large collection of Dutch, modernist works. “This collection fits in seamlessly with the previous donation. This makes the modernism here in the Singer in Laren even more beautiful and even stronger.”

The works can now be viewed in the Singer Museum in Laren as part of the exhibition Love for Color – Gestel, Sluijters, De Smet and others.
