On the cobblestones of the Grote Markt, symbolic empty pots and pans were referred to the lack of food and the famine with which the Palestinian population in Gaza has to contend.
“We call on everyone to participate in this demonstration to say loud and clear: no to starving Gaza, no to genocide, no to support for the occupation,” said organizer Freddy Dolfen at the end of the protest.
Among those present there were also a few local politicians, including ships Michèle Note and city councilors Wouter Vanlouwe, Bart Goudeseune and Anneke Soenen. The Palestinian Rima Ghotouk, who has been living in Veurne for eight years, also participated in the protest with her mother Fatme and Sister Lina.
