‘Significant’ damage island state Tonga after volcanic eruption and tsunami

The north of Nuku’alofa, the capital of the island nation of Tonga, has had a “significant impact” from the tsunami that followed Saturday’s submarine volcanic eruption in the Pacific Ocean. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced this in a press conference. The capital is also said to be covered in a large layer of ash.
