Sexist show, his behavior in the interview – after Collien Fernandes’ allegations, many see Christian Ulmen’s past with different eyes.
Christian Ulmen is currently in the crossfire of the German media industry and the public. Recently, his ex-wife Collien Fernandes made serious allegations against him. He is said to have created fake sexual content about her for years and forwarded it to men in the immediate vicinity of the couple at the time. In the public debate surrounding the case, this is described as a new form of sexual violence. Since the allegations became public, the actor’s old interviews have come into focus again, in which he attracted attention with questionable statements and questionable behavior.
“Who wants to fuck my girlfriend” from 2013
13 years ago, Christian Ulmen developed a show concept that was broadcast on Tele 5 at the time and was moderated by himself in his role as Uwe Wöllner. The show was titled “Who wants to fuck my girlfriend”. The concept was that two men competed against each other and introduced their partners in the show. They then went through various tests and games, entertaining men and collecting points. The most points were awarded if one of the men said he would sleep with the participant’s girlfriend. In the end, the winner’s wreath with the inscription “Everybody wants to fuck my girlfriend” went to the man whose girlfriend had collected the most points.
Even back then, both the broadcaster Tele 5 and Christian Ulmen received enormous criticism for the show concept, which was particularly accused of sexism. However, the whole thing didn’t really put a damper on the producer and actor’s career – years later, for example, he was more successful than ever with the series “Jerks”.
Before the show aired, the now 50-year-old gave an interview to ARD during a red carpet appearance in which he talked about his work on the show. His statements about the women who were part of the program are striking. He used the phrase at the time: “Two men are competing to see who has the hotter girlfriend.” In the next sentence he announced that said women would “go through tests in which they pass through brothels, and whichever woman takes home the most johns wins.” His then partner Collien Fernandes was also seen at his side.
With the allegations against the mime now published, many are looking at the interview differently and expressing sharp criticism. It was shared widely on Instagram and discussed in a debate about whether the behavior described in the allegations should have been recognized back then. Said debate emerges primarily from the comments of the posted interview. Many people commented on this in the comments section. One comment reads: “I find it disturbing without all the background knowledge.” Another is: “Define “There were signs.””
Ulmen’s behavior in the “1LIVE hail of questions”
In view of today’s allegations, an interview that Christian Ulmen gave in 2015 in the “1LIVE hail of questions” format also stands out. In this format, celebrities are subjected to a short round of questions and have to answer them in quick succession and as creatively as possible.
After one or two initial questions, the interviewer spoke about a secret cell phone from which Christian Ulmen was said to have sent secret text messages. However, the actor repeatedly responded to what was probably intended as a prank with the announcement: “Show me the evidence!” He then indicated that he wanted to leave the room before the subject was dropped and the interview continued in a different direction.
The video was briefly no longer available on YouTube, but was then available again. Here, too, a debate arose about whether Ulmen’s behavior at the time indicated whether he wanted to defend himself against suspicion. Now that the allegations are public, he is known to have consulted legal advice very quickly.
As with the Instagram post, this topic will also be discussed in the comments column. One person wrote: “It really gives you goosebumps when you listen to it today. This presenter suspected or knew something, I can’t explain it any other way.” Another comment was: “10 years ago… WDR sparked inspiring, unexpected ideas.”
