Short tracker Kos will not be available for the third World Tour weekend of the season due to a back injury. Kos had already arrived in Gdansk, but will fly back to the Netherlands on Tuesday for further research.
“I find the situation a bit scary now that the pain has gotten worse, while we have been working with all our might in recent weeks to solve the problem,” Kos said to the NOS.
Precursor to hernia?
Kos suffers from a so-called ‘bulging disc’, which can indicate a precursor to a hernia. “Although it does not have to be very serious, because I immediately received treatment from the physio and that seemed to be the right approach.”
The pain eased and Kos was ready for the next matches. But after a fall during a training in Thialf a week and a half ago, new complaints emerged. “A new MRI scan will probably have to be made now.”
