Another neighbor, a little further in the street, was inside at that time. “We heard. At first I thought it was fireworks, but it turned out to be different. These are things that you normally see on television, and you want to keep it there too. Not here.”
There is speculation in the neighborhood about the reason, often the Turkish neighborhood center is discussed. “But we have never been bothered by that,” says the neighbor. A gentleman on the bike, who lives in a flat next to the neighborhood, brings flowers for the victims. “In the neighborhood center there may be two or three rotten apples in between, but 98 percent of people there is just good. This touches the entire neighborhood.”
He shakes his head: “In the past you just got a kick under the ass if you had a fight, now it apparently goes like that. Isn’t that normal?”
The police say that they will continue today with neighborhood investigation and forensic trace investigation at the Tammingecamp. “All information is welcome,” said the spokesperson. “We want to sort this out to the bottom.” The police ask local residents with camera images of, for example, doorbell cameras to report if they may have recorded something suspicious.
