Someone was shot in Eelderwolde last night. One person was injured in the shooting incident on the provincial border with Groningen.
The victim was taken to hospital. The perpetrator has fled and is being sought by the police.
The shooting happened around midnight. The police have set up a crime scene under the Groningerweg bridge near the Woltsingel. Shots were said to have taken place here. The police are on site and are investigating what exactly happened.
There is also a police cordon on the Groningerweg, a little further away. At the crime scene there is a car with a running engine that the police also appear to be investigating.
According to bystanders, the injured victim sought help at a nearby home after the incident. There he was checked and treated by ambulance personnel, after which he was transferred to hospital.
After the report, emergency services responded en masse. Several police units rushed to the scene, with officers wearing heavy vests. The police take into account that there may be multiple suspects.
