Franziska Preuss fought for the top for a long time. A mistake in the last shooting cost it the next medal.
Franziska Preuss missed her fifth medal at the Biathlon World Championships in Lenzerheide. At the end of the title fights in Switzerland, the 30-year-old took seventh place over 12.5 km. Gold went to Swedish Elvira Öberg ahead of Océane Michelon from France and Maren Kirkeeide from Norway.
It looked good for the German at least at the shooting range. In both lying attacks and also in the first standing stop, she remained flawless and sometimes even took the lead. Prussia caught a weaker day in the cross -country ski run and was never entirely able to settle the competition. In the last standing shooting, the 30-year-old also made the first shooting error and fell out of the medal ranks.
Preuss had previously won gold in the persecution, silver in the sprint and bronze with the mixed and single mixed relay. With the season on Saturday, she also missed the hoped -for podium in fifth place. For this, the DSV men had surprisingly bronze over 4×7.5 km in the race over 4×7.5 km.
After a short break, the World Cup in Nove Mesto/Czech Republic is coming up from March 6th to 9th. For Prussia, the remaining three World Cups are about winning the overall World Cup. After 14 out of 21 competitions with 92 points, she runs ahead of Lou JeanMonnot.
