Shooting during house searches at far-right German movement: officer injured, suspect arrested | Abroad

The incident happened in the town of Reutlingen, south of Stuttgart. There, the police conducted searches in connection with the Reichsbürger movement, a diffuse group of people who do not recognize the authority of the current system of government.

According to information from the German news agency DPA, the agent is in stable condition.

At the end of last year, a large group of citizens of the Reich were arrested because they wanted to commit a coup d’état. Supporters of the movement do not recognize the Federal Republic of Germany and want to return to the borders of Germany in 1937. The group of some 20,000 Germans is considered dangerous because there are many armed extremists among them and they were planning to set up a new army. For the German judiciary it is considered a terrorist organization.

According to the Bild newspaper, Wednesday’s house searches are also aimed at several active agents and soldiers, as with previous actions against the citizens of the Reich.
