At a special drone factory in Dubna, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu was presented with the first flight model of the Orion unmanned aerial vehicle with satellite communications, the ministry told RBC. The drone is supposed to be used for reconnaissance of ground targets.
The use of satellite communications makes it possible to increase the range of the Orion even outside the zone of direct radio visibility of the ground control station.
In December last year, Kronstadt showed the Orion drone with an onboard radar system.
