Shirts from Frenkie and Virgil stolen during daytime activities: ‘A cowardly act’

During the autumn holidays, a daytime activity project Fortem.nu at camping Het Peelvenneke in Zeeland was broken into. Four signed football shirts were stolen during the burglary, including those belonging to Frenkie de Jong and Virgil van Dijk.

The burglary was discovered on Friday afternoon by Jeroen Otten, the supervisor of the daytime activities for people with disabilities and behavioral problems. “They smashed the glass from the smallest window at the back of the building. Then they came in,” he says.

The perpetrators took four special football shirts that hung on the wall in the canteen of the daytime activities. “These were signed shirts in a sealed frame and had a certificate of authenticity. It concerns the shirts of Frenkie de Jong (Orange), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Eden Hazard (Real Madrid) and Luis Suárez (Barcelona). All four are gone. !”, Otten describes some of the loot.

Otten once bought the shirts himself at an auction and hung them on the wall of his daytime activities. “They broke the lists and took the shirts out. They are not worth that much anymore. A few tens at most.” The burglars didn’t take all the shirts. “The shirts of Paolo Maldini, Sébastien Haller and Kevin de Bruyne have left them hanging.”

In addition to the shirts, two radio-controlled model boats were also taken along. And that is what Otten is most disappointed about. “We regularly went sailing with the boats. For our clients this was a relaxing activity, which was a lot of fun. A cowardly act, that makes me very sad.”

Otten has since reported the burglary to the police. Images from security cameras at the campsite are also viewed.
