She doesn’t like the winner of the Tastiest Brabant Sausage Roll herself

Eline Nagelkerke (16) from Oudenbosch won the battle for ‘The most delicious Brabant sausage roll 2023’ on Wednesday evening. And that’s not for the first time. Twice before, the daughter of a famous baker’s family stood on the top step of the podium among the home bakers. A tasty sausage roll is well spent on Eline, you would think. “But I don’t like sausage rolls.”

The winner was presented with the challenge trophy on Wednesday evening at Summa College in Eindhoven by singer and soap star John de Bever. Eline is the youngest winner among the professionals in the history of the sausage bread competition.

“I’m glad I won. The competition was fierce. When the numbers two and three were already known, I knew I had won. Back to work early in the bakery on Thursday, because there will be a lot of sausage rolls will be sold,” the winner expects.

Eline is the youngest ever winner of the Tastiest Sausage Roll election. “That is very special. Still, I wasn’t nervous beforehand, because then it won’t work out,” says the lucky winner. A position that her father Jan is jealous of, because he never got further than second place in the elections. He looked proudly at his daughter from a distance.

It has to be up early on Thursday morning. Eline: “First bake sausage rolls and then celebrate carnival. It will be a short night.” Still, the winner has something special to say. “I don’t like sausage bread at all. I eat bread every day and I like that too. I also like minced meat, but not in a sandwich. I understand that other people like sausage bread. But I don’t eat it myself.”
