In a business premises where they learn to process on Steenstraat in Dongen, a big blazing fire broke out just before ten on Sunday evening. According to an 112 photographer, it rains sharp particles and is therefore requested to leave. There are solar panels on the roof of the large business premises. This is reported by the Central and West Brabant Safety Region.
The flames hit meters high from the roof of the building. Dark clouds of smoke are released during the fire. An 112 photographer on site was asked to leave the industrial estate because sharp particles fly around. It is not clear how large the area is where the particles end up.
Solar panels
According to the safety region, there are solar panels on the roof. The foil particles of the solar panels would fly around.
At least five extinguishers and two aerial platforms are on site, including from Dongen, Rijen, Oosterhout and ‘s Gravenmoer. As far as is known at the Safety Region, there were no people in the factory when the fire broke out.
Water pump in Channel
To get enough extinguishing water at the building, a water pump has been placed in the Wilhelminakanaal. The water goes from the canal to the business premises via a large hose. The Safety Region asks people to stay away from the area to prevent the snakes from being damaged. A way to the business premises is closed. There is also a drone team on site to view the situation from the air.
The fire brigade tries to prevent the fire from spreading even further. According to the Safety Region, there is no direct danger for surrounding buildings on the industrial site. “It is a large building, but it is separate and there is a road between the building next to it,” said the spokesperson.
The Safety Region advises people to keep windows and doors closed and turn off the ventilation. A spokesperson said that the clouds of smoke do not pull over residential areas.
